  • Notes 
    • Dad mentioned that when Grandpa completed his term in US Army Air Corp, he flew back to America with the pilot in their B-24 bomber.

      Uncle Tom mentioned that Grandpa flew in B24 Liberator bombing German oil fields in Ploesti, Romania. Uncle Tom mentioned in another mission, Jerry's B24 Liberator lost 2 engines and fell behind it's group. They had to land their plane in a small airport in Yugoslavia to repair their engines.

      Grandpa was also a recipient of the purple heart award for being hit with flack.

      According to my Mom, Jerome Perchinske's birth certificate mistakenly listed his first name as Richard. He later paid to have that corrected.

      Jerry and his brother Frank were very close.

Pijaczynski Spelling Transition

The Pijzaczynski family name changed many times over the years. In Polish records, Andrew’s surname appeared as Peczynski. He had six children in Poland and five in the United States. After immigrating, his last name varied on documents such as census records, deeds, and death certificates, before his children in the U.S. eventually adopted the name Perchinske. Rumor had it that teachers could not spell the name correctly and eventually his children became Perchinske.
