    • The following notation is listed in the bio section of Find a Grave for Stephanus Smetanovsky:

      It seems that, for the most part, Joseph went by the given name of "Stephen". The surname "Smetanovsky" is mostly found in (oddly) the genealogical records of his Daughters (Maria and Sophia) who married two brothers by the surname of "Christopoulos" Both Sisters moved to Maryland with their Husbands and lived there until their deaths. Two of Joseph's Sons, Joseph and Stephen, changed their surnames from Smetanovsky to that of "Smith". Those two lived and died, most of their lives, in Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio.

      Joseph's Wife, Maria Masler, died in 1920 and it would seem that Joseph remarried before his death in 1928 as several of his children are found living with their "Mother" in the 1930 and 1940 U.S. Censuses that were Joseph's from his first Wife, Maria Masler. It is uncertain, as of this writing on September 30, 2019, as to what the second Mrs. Joseph Smetanovsky's maiden name was.

Pijaczynski Spelling Transition

The Pijzaczynski family name changed many times over the years. In Polish records, Andrew’s surname appeared as Peczynski. He had six children in Poland and five in the United States. After immigrating, his last name varied on documents such as census records, deeds, and death certificates, before his children in the U.S. eventually adopted the name Perchinske. Rumor had it that teachers could not spell the name correctly and eventually his children became Perchinske.

Fredrick Brug Jr lived in Bundenthal Germany where he held the title of Count under Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm I during the period of 1878 to 1883.
