• Notes

  According to Janet Berry, Maria was born in Grabowo Królewskie, Poland but the family moved to Iwno, Poland. Janet is said to have a picture of their home in Iwno. Janet Berry and Carl Filipiak went to visit their Filipiak relatives in Iwno, Poland many years ago (possibly 80 or 90’s). They visited an Uncle of Carls. Carl explained that Maria had a brother Woitek who migrated to the United States and took a train as far west as he could go and stopped at Chicago, Illinois. Woitek had a son named Stanislaw (Stanislaus) Filipiak. Stanislaw had two daughters (Maria & Zoief or known as Sophie) that both were married to 2 germans. Maira married name was either Kleinert or Klaynard. I don’t know Sophie’s married name but she had 4 kids. Per Janet, Woitek immigrated to Chicago in the 1890s like his siblings.
