    • Walter (Baldy) Phillips, 120 West Bridge street, died at his home yesterday at 11 p.m. He had been ill for six years. Born in Grafton, June 7, 1894, he had lived in Elyria for 30 years. He worked as a switchman for National Tube Company and belonged to St. Mary's Church and the Eagles Lodge.
      Surviving Mr. Phillips are his wife, Mabel; two sons, Dick at home and Brother Neville C.S.C. of East Pakistan; three brothers, Frank, John and Joe Filipak, of Grafton; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Anderson of Grafton, Mrs. Agnes Manning of Cleveland and Mrs. Nellie Hudson Mrs. Pauline Mashinke, both of Elyria.
      The body will remain at Welsh Goldcamp Funeral Home where friends may call. The Rev. Msgr. William L. Newton will officiate at funeral services Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pijaczynski Spelling Transition

The Pijzaczynski family name changed many times over the years. In Polish records, Andrew’s surname appeared as Peczynski. He had six children in Poland and five in the United States. After immigrating, his last name varied on documents such as census records, deeds, and death certificates, before his children in the U.S. eventually adopted the name Perchinske. Rumor had it that teachers could not spell the name correctly and eventually his children became Perchinske.

Fredrick Brug Jr lived in Bundenthal Germany where he held the title of Count under Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm I during the period of 1878 to 1883.
